Obama jumps in to save Biden as Trump pushes hard

Obama has ‘always’ been worried about losing to Trump. — AFP/File Barack Obama is more involved in President Joe Biden’s election campaign as there’s “grave concern” that his rival, Republican candidate Donald Trump, could win in November, The New York Times reported.

The report published Wednesday mentioned that an unidentified senior aide said the ex-president would “eke it out” with Biden as Trump vs Biden is expected to be a close race.

The official also said that Obama has “always” been worried about losing to Trump, who has still not accepted the 2020 election results.

The Times reported that Obama, who is a two-time president, keeps regular contact with Biden, White House chief of staff Jeffrey D. Zients and top campaign aides.

Obama had Friday, according to CNN, met Biden for hours at the White House. It was a “working visit”.

In the meeting, the former president lauded the sitting head of the state for his hard-hitting State of the Union speech and also stressed the importance of health care to woo voters. Obama deems the push to re-elect Biden an “all hands on deck” effort.
